Tuesday, August 12th - I started spotting, yet my period was still two more weeks away.
Wednesday, August 13th - Spotting only in the morning, very light.
Thursday, August 14th - No spotting today.
Friday, August 15th - Spotting only in the morning, very light.
Saturday, August 16th - Spotting only in the morning, very light.
Sunday, August 17th - Spotting got heavier, decided to call the doc in the morning.
Monday, August 18th - No spotting, called the doc and made an appointment for Wednesday at 9:30am.
Tuesday, August 19th - No spotting, anxiously awaiting my doctor's appointment. Decided to do a home pregnancy test, got a faint positive.
Wednesday, August 20th - Went to the doctor, took another pregnancy test once I was there and it was also a faint positive.
Doctor's Appointment:
I met with my doctor and he gave me two scenarios that may be happening.
1. I could just be dealing with typical hormonal issues (such as spotting) that occur in early pregnancy.
-OR-
2. I could be having an early miscarriage.
He did an ultrasound, but gave me a warning beforehand. He said that if we don't see anything to not freak out. Since I'm so early in the pregnancy then my baby is just a ball of cells and we wouldn't be able to see it anyway. What he was looking for was called "thickening". When you're pregnant the lining of your uterus thickens too support the baby. We didn't see a baby, but we did see the thickening, he pointed out an area of a veiny-like growth. So then he gave me two choices.
Option 1: Send me home, have me come back next week to do another test and ultrasound
-OR-
Option 2: Take blood to test for the amount of HCG (pregnancy hormone) in my blood, come back and take more blood on Friday and get the results on Tuesday. If the HCG levels are rising, it's a pregnancy; if they are the same or dropping, it's a miscarriage.
So here I am, now Thursday, August 21st, anxiously but gladly awaiting to go get stuck by needles tomorrow. Then another 3 days waiting for results. I haven't bled since Sunday, so I'm hoping that is a good sign, and maybe the bleeding last week was just my hormones confusing my body. But... in my experience bleeding = very bad. So I'm pretty sure I will be under a watchful eye.
